Superfast to quit Zeebrugge - Rosyth
« on: May 28, 2008, 07:20:00 PM »
Hi,

Superfast ferries will cease all operations between Rosyth and Zeebrugge as of September 14th 2008.
The last sailing will leave Rosyth on the 13th of September.
High fuel costs and low passenger numbers are to be blamed.
Blue Star 1 which replaced Superfast X last year will be redeployed in the Med.

Regards
Cedric

Hi Cedric

Its all becoming a vicious circle of high fuel costs> higher fares > less passengers > less profits......

Superfast, Forth Ports and the Scottish Parliament only have themselves to blame for this, right from the start it has always been cheaper for freight companys and passangers to travel to Newcastle or even as far as Hull to catch a ferry to Zeebrugge.
How long until Forth Ports apply for planning permission to build Houses on Rosyth Dock yard just like they have Leith docks?
Not long after September 14th 2008 i bet..

Hi Andrew

If only we did have a route from North Shields (always 'badged' as Newcastle) to Zeebrugge - No we only have routes at present to Ijmuiden and Stavanger/Bergen and from 1 September 2008 only Ijmuiden - that for how long is anyone's guess  :-?
