Reports filtering here from Somalia indicates that an Italian cargo ship was attacked by gunmen last night out side Mogadishu port. Disturbing information shows that some hostages are seriously injured following a heavy gun fire aboard some of the vessels in captivities.The extent of the casualties is not yet known. Somali gunmen are holding captive 130 crew members of the 5 cargo ships,2 tankers and 1 tug boat. The gunmen aboard the tug boat are demanding US$ 1 Million to release the vessel and her 10 Nigerian crew men. Seafarers in captivity are composed of Russians,Filipinos,Malaysians,a Slovakian and Thai nationals among others. More news at:
