Queen Victoria

Hi All

Looking for clarification - is the Queen Victoria undergoing sea trials? - the reason I ask is that I was passed the following url's of photographs showing her at sea. I'm not sure as to their authenticity, i.e. real of computer generated, what do others think?

Hi Steve,

they look quite real but it's a bit unreal that the ship is completely finished for trials.
When the QM2 conducted trials, not everything was painted yet.
She is certaily undergoing trails allready
There were some pictures of her on trails on the site a few weeks ago

Not a bad looking ship at all, if indeed this is what it looks like.Keeping with Cunards new modern image as looking like the other Queens.

Looks real to me. I dont like cruise ships that much but I'll give a 10 on the Victoria if this is actually her.

Taking a second look at the third link, the hull color doesnt look shiny enough, along with the stack.  I dunno It just could be the lighting but just an observation

Looks great. She will be in Rotterdam Cruise Terminal
dec 12 together with the "old" QE2. Could be last time seeing them together!

These shots are for real. That's her on trials. She's not completely finished yet. You can note for instance that one of the satcom devices is still missing (in front of the funnel, you can see one device, and next to it you can see the mounting where a second one will be placed).

Yes, she was on trial but she's now back at the yard for completion. Cruise ships often look almost finished externally months before their delivery, even if the interior work is far from being completed.
That said those pictures look too perfect to me... If I'm sure they are real, I guess they were slightly photoshopped, there's always at least a few paint jobs left until the end. I'm pretty sure as well those shots will be be used as promotional material for Cunard and/or Fincantieri.

Hi Pascal,

I agree that probably some photoshopping was done here. Just look at the foredeck, that looks a bit too perfect to me. Also, if you compare these trial shots with the trials shots you usually see from other yards (such as Meyer and Aker), the whole ship indeed looks a bit too perfect.

I was in Venice (on the Aurora) on 24th August 2007.  An announcement was made that the Queen Victoria would be departing Venice on that day for the first time to start her sea trials.  She left her berth late morning and from the top deck of the Aurora it was just possible to sea her.  I understand she returned later the same day.

Hi Bob

Possibly "First" and "Last" - now that would be a photo opportunity

There is without question photoshopping on this image. She looks too good, but also - as is the case with any good photoshopping - something (I don't know what) just does not look right.

Anyhow, she still looks quite good.
