Cargo ship goes down off Samar

ZAMBOANGA CITY: Even as the country reels from the sinking of SuperFerry 9 off the Zamboanga peninsula, another vessel sank on Monday near Hilaban Island in Samar.

The Panama-owned MV Hera was en route from Papua New Guinea to China when it sank, but there was no report of fatalities or casualties, according to the maritime incident report filed by the Philippine Coast Guard.

The coast guard reported that it had rescued 19 crew of the 4,189-ton cargo ship
