Does anyone have information about Stella Polaris???
« on: September 02, 2006, 05:09:41 PM »
I just heard that Stella Polaris sank last night, when she was towed from Japan to Shanghai, where she was supposed to arrive next week. Is there someone who knows more about this? I'm really interested since I heard a couple of weeks ago that she was going to leave Japan after being moored there as hotel ship for more than 30 years.
Does anyone know what happened?

Hello Susanne,

I heard the sad news this morning, another one gone...

There was an article about the incident in today's Asia-Pacific edition of the International Herald Tribune, you can read it HERE.

Brgds,
Aleksi

Thanks Aleksi!
Yes, I agree, it's sad! I guess she will remain there, unless she's in the way for other ships.

You may also want to see the following site.

I wanted to see her off when she departed Kisyo at noon on Aug.31, because such tragedy could be predicted.
But regrettably, I could not take a day off. :-(
It takes about three hours or more  from Tokyo to her place.
After all, final visit was on Jan. 29 this year.
