KPS-8 OSMAN BEY (IMO 9116955)

Built in 1996 by Hyundai Heavy Industries Co Ltd Ulsan South Korea as SKS TYNE for Obo Ship One Ltd , flag Bermuda.

1997 Transferred to SKS Obo Holding Ltd, flag Norway.

2008 New manager: SKS Obo & Tankers AS, flag Norway.

2016 Sold to Karpower Americas Company Limited (Karmarine Karadeniz Denizcilik ve Ticaret SA Istanbul Turkey as manager), flag Monrovia Liberia.

Renamed KARADENIZ POWERSHIP EROL BEY.

She was used as a tanker, to send fuel to the various floating power plants.

In 2017 the company decided that each country must supply fuel to the different floating power plants.

In January 2018 the tanker was sold to be cut up, not scrapped, and the company was only looking for the bow and tanks.

Arrived in Yalova Turkey in December 2018, the purpose of this marine structure, which is a floating power plant, is to generate electricity offshore. It will generate 240 MW of electricity with 8-piece diesel generators. HAT-SAN shipyard has successfully completed production in November 2020.

In 2020 it was completed and launched under the name KPS-8 OSMAN BEY.

In 2022 it was sent to Brazil

Karpowership is proud to be part of the Brazilian energy sector and to contribute to the country's energy generation and efficiency.

In Brazil since 2022, the company's main project in the country is the implementation and operation of 4 floating thermal power plants and a floating gas storage and regasification unit (FSRU) (LNG).

The vessels are anchored in Sepetiba Bay, in the city of Itaguaí, Rio de Janeiro, and have a total installed capacity of 560 MW.

The project is 100% completed and began operating in September 2022, making it fully available to the Brazilian energy system. The power plants generate clean and reliable energy using natural gas. The energy generated passes through 41 transmission towers and reaches the homes of thousands of Brazilians.

The Powerships are highly efficient, fully integrated, combined-cycle facilities that can be deployed almost immediately and therefore do not require carbon-intensive land-based infrastructure. They can be "unplugged" and reinstalled elsewhere, with minimal environmental impact after decommissioning.
