SPICA J - container ship
« on: January 17, 2022, 10:14:33 AM »
Noted on the FLICKR website today, two very good aerial photos of 'Spica J', by Piet Sinke, the Singapore based, Dutch photographer, whom many of you will know.

You may like to see them here:

But, what is she doing so far from her usual North European waters?
She is still shown as under Jungerhans ownership.
In ballast, passing Singapore, heading for Taicang, China.
Perhaps a modification?

Any information welcome,
Rick

She got so scared of my horrible looks that she stated:
"I want to get as far away as possible from here!"

TRUE FACTS! :D

@Niall Magner:
I do not know who you are, and I do not know if you are being serious or not.
Tomas and I are long-standing friends, and our brief dialogue can unequivocally be seen to be in jest.
Even Tomas, whose first language is Norwegian, understands that point, even if it appears you have missed it.

Thank you,
Rick

Just before Christmas, there were reports in the MSM in the UK, that a couple of UK supermarket chains were chartering their own ships dedicated to shipping their own cargo's back to the UK from the Far East. It was to avoid the liner company delays, and enable shipment direct to smaller, uncongested UK ports. The size range of between 500 and 1000 teu seemed too small and implausible and I just though it was probably just something badly reported........perhaps not, maybe one has chartered a ship of this size.

So is Andromeda J which is now anchored in Singapore. One Spica J returns to Rotterdam she'll go back on the RTM - Oslo run

@Simon
@Topspotter89
@Niall

Thank you all, for the extra information. Interesting stuff, and a nice little earner for the ships, I hope.
Regards, Rick

I was told that a couple Jungenhans vessels were chartered to bring boxes from the MED to the Far East for a good charter price.

regards
Frans

Thanks Frans, this is what it appears to be!  Nice to see them away from the winter here in NW Europe!
