News coming from Greece
« on: June 27, 2006, 01:44:21 PM »
Hello

Here are a compil of news coming from Greece:

the Highspeed vessel Flyingcat 3 has another breakdown few days ago.

The Thessaloniki, is now with the new Saos ferries livery ( a dark blue on the hull and "m" on the funnel which means Manoussis, I think), she is now docked in Pireaus main port, near the cruise ships terminal.

The Samothraki which had dry-docking works few weeks ago, also got the new Saos ferries' livery, she is now reactived on her usual lines.

The El Venizelos left Elefsina shipyards with the Tunisia ferries livery on Monday 19th June, I think that she is in la Goulete now, and probably in service between La Goulete (Tunis) and Marseille/Genova

the new pullmantur cruise ship , I mean the Sky Wonder(ex Fairsky, Sky princess, Pacific Sky) left Skaramanga shipyards on monday 19th June, she is now in service, she operate from Venice port or Pireaus Port, she will be in Pireaus this monday, I believe.

The roro recently purshased by Kostas Agapitos, the Accacia, she will keep this name, and won't sail under greek flag, she could undertake the line between Pireaus-Israel-and Egypt because the Archagelos will moove on Pireaus-Chania line

The Aegean Glory was sold to turkish interests, and she will be delivred them, the next week.

the Maria G(the roro I mean) was sold to a cyprian business man, the greek flag will be remained.

The Panagia Parou sailed to Avlis where she is in dry-dock, she will be reactived soon, on Pireaus-Paros-Naxos-Amorgos line, her sistership , the Panagia Thalassini is in service on Lavrio-Syros-Tinos-Mykonos line

The Alkioni was in sea trials on Monday 19th June, near Salamina island, she is still intend to start her service between Rafina-Andros-Tinos-Mykonos, in few days. (I will upload pics here when I will be here)

best regards

Do you have any information on Egnatia III. She is laid up in Greece (Eulisis?) and was supposed to be auctioned in April. Do you know anyone I can get general arrangement drawing from (not just deck plans.)  Thanks in advance,

Vince

Thanks paparaship,

I am a big fan of the site and use it regularly, despite the language barrier (I only speak English and Spanish.) I even got deck plans for the Egnatia off there. But I am looking for more detail, as in the ship General Arrangement plans. I would also be interested in a contact for whomever was arranging the auction, to see what is next.

Thanks for the help,

Vince

Hello to all of you

Please find bellow some recent news coming from Greece:
First, the Express Aphrodite has stopped Pireaus-Paros-Naxos-Ios-Thira runs, and she is actually in a short lay-up in Pireaus, she will be reactived for a short time, instead of the Express Pegasus which will go in dry-dock.
The line will be Pireaus-Syros-Mykonos-Ikaria-Samos. Probably for 2 or 3 sails at least

Rumours said that the Express Santorini will be back into service between Pireaus-Paros-Naxos-Ios-Santorini which is probable because the Afroditi has left this line.

The Romilda, and the the Samothraki are under repairs in Pireaus main port, the Milena is now in winter lay-up

The season is finished for the Aeolos Kenteris, and the Panagia Thalassini.

Any news of the fate of the Egnatia III (ex Medina Star, Saint Killian II)?? When last seen spotted, she was laid up in Piraeus. in late 1998, I went on her delivery voyage from Le Harve to Piraeus, when she was renamed the Medina Star.

Regards,
Ron G

Hello Ron G,

I've heard no news since June 2006 when I photographed her laid up in Eleusis Bay, near Piraeus... For curiosity I also have a photo of her in Piraeus as Medina Star in July 2000, not posted here due to poor quality.

Here's the shot of her & companions in Eleusis in June:

Hi to all of you

That's true that there is a long time that we didn't hear something new about the Egnatia III and also her owner Hml, they have actually none ships sailing on regular line.

I am really curious to know what they will do with this ship, but I think that she will be there for a quite long time, I just hope one thing, she won't stay there as long as the Nissos Chios (old one) and the Thseus.

There is also another new from Greece, the new Nissos Chios could be launched in October. And normally she will be delivred in june 2006, but a friend, saw her in Elefsina, and she has only two decks, now bow and no stern, so it seems difficult. Remember it was the same, with the Nissos Mykonos which was delivred in september 2005 instead or June-July 2005.

all best
Lucas

EGNATIA III was sold to Arabian interests and she was renamed as EGNATIA.
She left Greece today to UAE.
