Shipspotters all over the world > Shipping News and information
Ships-favourite names,not the ships,but the names,for any reason !
Emmanuel.L:
I have seen various odd names .especially on yachts, but the best one for me was a small motor cruiser named AFTER YOU, when I enquired about the originality of the name with the owner, I thought he will tell me that because his boat was just a small one he gives way to larger ones, but the answer was quiet different and unique.
When he meets some girl,to impress he just tells her that ne named the boat "After you"....what do you think, smart and witty...eh.
He wouldn't have to rename the boat when he embark on a new love venture.

Asked why a rather obscure Greek owner operating small tankers in West Africa should choose my name, Unibros told me that it had no particular significance. They had merely asked their London agent to choose a name "with a bit of class" - in this case the royal jewellers in Bond Street, London.

everytime I mention that Willy [IMO 9268241] is due in, it makes my daughter snigger and give a sly grin to my wife!!
