I have just noticed that Hapag Lloyd are quite happily operating the Chicago Express (IMO 9295268) which was built in 2006.
They also have a Chicago Express due to come into service in 2007 (IMO 9320702).
Does this mean the poor old Chicago Express Mk1 will get yet another name?
Equasis is a bit confusing here; it says the ship was built in 2006.
Then it says it was called the Osaka Express in 2004, The Tsingtao Express in 2005 and finally the Chicago Express in 2006.
Perhaps they ought to give the ship a name like "Fill in the blank Express"!

Kelvin,

This is an anomoly of Equasis. If they make a mistake with a newbuild name, then correct it, they record the mistake as an ex-name.

Cheers
Phil

Maersk container newbuildings

Maersk Guernsey - 17th(?) D/G-type
(sister ships also built this year coming from the Hyundai shipyards are M. Gloucester, M. Gosforth, and M. Greenock )

Maersk Baltimore - 2nd of a series of 7 vessels from Volkswerft Stralsund.
(first ship delivered was Maersk Boston)

Both vessels would be British-flagged
