Lowestoft Clear UP
« on: March 09, 2015, 03:06:28 PM »
Afternoon all, I hear from other sources that the ships currently moored in Lowestoft, UK are set to be towed away during March and to potentially be scrapped. Does anyone out there know any more about this move?

Hi Dan,

Currently moored in the river we have:
L4001 Ardennes - Ex British Army Landing Craft
L4003 Arakan - Ex British Army Landing Craft
KYE Torrent - Research / Survey Vessel
Torch - Ex Royal Navy Torpedo Recovery Vessel
Lorna - Research / Survey Vessel.

From what I've heard through the grape vine KYE Torrent, Torch and Lorna are set to be towed away this month and scrapped. Info on the 2 landing craft is uncertain. Some say they're going also, others say they're not sea worthy.

Cheers
Mike

Those are good Photos, Mike.

Any chance of you uploading them to the main photo section?

OK Mike,

Make sure you have your camera ready if the light is good enough and upload some photographs.

Cheers,

Dan.

That's correct, quite apt to photograph such a move from the site of a former shipyard.

I think that the sequence is:
BEVER sailed 22/3 with ARAKAN (L4003), arrived Ghent 23/4 [I saw these arrive at Terneuzen and later berthed at Ghent]
MTS VALIANT sailed 22/3 with KYE TORRENT, arrived Ghent 24/3
EN AVANT 1 sailed 23/3 with TORCH (A141), arrived Ghent 24/3
EN AVANT 1 now returning to Lowestoft, presumably to pick up ARDENNES (L4001) tomorrow.
