CSCL Globe to visit Europe in early January?
« on: November 15, 2014, 08:01:54 PM »
Hi, this is Darren Gordon (user containerman2) and I'm new to this site.  I live in Canada but most of my pictures so far have been shot in the United States on ship spotting / railfanning trips.  I am planning a major ship spotting trip in Europe next June.

Anyway if anyone is interested, the worlds largest container ship - CSCL Globe (19000 TEU) - according to the USAC corporate site is scheduled to call at Felixstowe, UK on Jan 7th, Rotterdam, Netherlands on Jan 10th, Hamburg, Germany on Jan 12th, and Zeebrugge, Belgium on Jan 16th.

You can visit my shipspotting videos at www.youtube.com/user/containerman2

Welcome to the site. I think most of our UK and Northern European shipspotters are standing ready for CSCL Globe, and hoping that (a) the ship arrives at a daylight hour, and (b) that it won't be raining or snowing on the day!

Right Chris. I'm looking forward to her arrival and to some nice shots of her from the Nordrange ports. Since Maersk was in the lead with ordering the back then biggest container ships in the recent past, it became rare to have the contemporare "biggest ship" calling at the port of Hamburg. (Triple E goes to Bremerhaven & Wilhelmshaven instead)
Cheers,
David

Thanks Chris.  That is a problem this time of the year with the days so short, I like to travel and ship spot in June when the days are at their longest.  Good luck in seeing the CSCL Globe and other big ships that are coming on line in the next few months. :)

Yah, I'm planning to visit some time in June. Right now I'm planning to spend about 5 days in Hamburg, 5 days in Rotterdam then 2 days in Felixstowe.  :)
