I use adblock, so haven't experienced any issues with suspicious popups.

I do however, feel that this issue should be seriously looked into. If the adverts are served via google adsense, it should be easy to remove the offending advert. If the adverts are served via a different vender, then you should still be able to remove the offending article via the control panel.

It might be worth reminding someone up in management that every user who uses adblock = lost revenue.

How true. As soon as I logged into Ship Spotting my AdBockPlus blocked six pop-ups and certainly lost revenue.
