Sea Breeze in trouble off The Lizard
« on: March 09, 2014, 10:14:58 AM »
The Sea Breeze (Ex Sea Hawk) is reportedly in difficulties off The Lizard after taking on water in her engine room, reports indicate all crew are off safe after the pumps landed on the vessel could not cope with the ingress of water.

The tug VORTEX is currently en route to the vessel.

Many of us will be familiar with this Damen Combi coaster as the Mindfull later becoing the Christa K and Sea Hawk (Unter Torbulk) before changing to Sea Breeze in July 2013.

Lets hope this lady can be salvaged.

VORTEX now with SEABREEZE.
HMS TYNE has been standing by for some hours.

VORTEX appears to have been stood down about 1645UTC and has returned to anchorage in Falmouth; replaced in attendance by launch JAMES DALTON

HMS TYNE also now departed and arriving Falmouth.

SEA BREEZE drifting off to the NE at 3 knots.

SEA BREEZE's AIS signal seems to have stopped c2015UTC. Perhaps sunk?
JAMES DALTON still in area.

SEA BREEZE has had in indifferent inspection record for some time, including a 54-day detention in 2012.  Not much of credit to either of her more recent operators.  At 25 years, time for razor-blades perhaps.

Sold by Northern Coasters/Gillie & Blair (mng Torbulk) in 7/2013 to Camrose Shipping Ltd, Marshall Islands and managed by Shipmar Co Ltd, Moscow.

JAMES DALTON now joined off St Austell by Seawide Services' BOY BRENDAN as dive boat.

Later: Fowey pilot boat also made a run out to SEA BREEZE c1330UTC

The vessel is now stable at St Austell Bay, but still has to undergo safety inspections.
