Not sure if this is common knowledge yet, but without any fuss or fanfare, the maiden voyage of the latest, world's largest container vessel, UASCs "BARZAN" has taken place.

The first of an order for 6 vessels & delivered by Hyundai Samho on 08/05/2015, arriving at Felixstowe on 25/06/2015 and sailed the following day.

This is the first container ship with a recorded length overall of 400 metres. I have to update the list of the world's longest ships in Wikipedia AGAIN! >_<

Hi Tuomas, for such a significant vessel (on several technical levels too) UASC have been slightly reticent to  publicize it's inaugural voyage.
I am now waiting for the first 400+ metre vessel to be announced.
I wonder how long, timewise and lengthwise?!
Regards, Rick

I,m in Felixstowe now on my Europe trip and seen Barzan both arriving and sailing from Felixstowe and took many pictures and video of this vessel and many other vessel seen in Hamburg, Rotterdam and Felixstowe.  It will be a while before I get these pictures uploaded.  It's interesting that the UASC website at last check still says that this vessel has a capacity of 18800 teu, not 19870 teu.
