Vessel heading up the River Mersey - ID?

(1/1)

Stephen Reynolds:
Hi All

I photographed this vessel on Friday.

She was heading up the Mersey at about mid day.

She did not have an AIS signal but bearing in mind her size and the location this is not unusual. She looks an older vessel. Strangely she did not have a name on her bow.

Any help identifying her would be appreciated.

Regards

Steve

Barry Graham:
Hi Steve

She's the Panary - a grain barge that does a regular run between Liverpool and grain mills in Cheshire.  Until recently she ran to Frodsham on the River Weaver, but switched to Runcorn due to silting on the Weaver. See http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1589150

Other elderly vessels on the same run are James Jackson Grundy and Loach.

Stephen Reynolds:
Hi Barry

Thanks for your help in identifying her.

Nice photograph you took of her at Frodsham Qauay, a very interesting pic with lots going on.

Steve
