Glasgow & Area - Photography / Ship locations?
« on: July 12, 2013, 06:42:48 PM »
Hi All

I will be in Glasgow with work at the end of next week although the actual date has not been decided.

As I will be driving up from the NW in the afternoon and staying overnight I was wondering if there are any good locations to see ships or photograph vessels.

I was looking at the BA systems facility on Google maps but i'm not sure if there are any ships to see there or anywhere to take any decent pictures.

This will be my first visit to Glasgow so any help to make use of the short time I have available would be appreciated.

Regards
Steve

Hi Steve,

If you Google directions to Braehead Shopping Centre or the Travelodge then there is plenty of public parking and it's actually on the opposite bank to the BaE yards with a riverside walkway so dead easy...if something is there of course!

Hope that helps.

Regards

Andrew

Hi Andrew

Thanks for your email, I followed your directions.

Not a ship in sight!

Place looked like a graveyard - very sad.

Thanks again

Steve

If you have a smartphone , then you can download the marinetraffic app , which is excellent and no more than 4 minutes behind the actual arrival of a vessel , is it has it's ais on.

Hi Dave

Thanks for the advice.

I tried AS but the river was empty.

As warships don't always use AIS I thought there might still a chance that a vessel would be in.

Steve
