The KATHRYN SPIRIT has been stranded in Beauharnois, Que. for close to 2 years on the Saint-Laurent seaway. She will finally be on her way to a scrape yard.
CAI Group is in charge for the towing operation of the ship for a scrapping yard in Mexico. The company Mexicaine Reciclajes Ecologicos Maritimos is planning for the dismantlement in mid-June.

Only a few days ago there were fears that she might miss this year's opportunity to leave as work still needing to be done to get official approvals to move her, and in preparation for the tow, might not be completed before water levels dropped too far (if I have understood this right).
