Need advice for setting the IMO in another user's photo
« on: January 19, 2013, 05:47:26 AM »
Today I added a comment to photo 172646 of the Universe, saying that two other photos of the same ship (as Atlantic), namely 101387 and 32876, which have no IMO, ought to have the same IMO as this photo. I could not edit the photos myself - it says I don't have the appropriate privileges. What is the proper way, or best way, to request that another user's photo be given an IMO if the IMO is known? Would it be more effective if I added the comment to the photo's in question? Would that be more likely to bring it to the attention of the user who added the photo? Or is the way I did it a good way, considering that 172646 is one of the most viewed photos of they day? Or is there a more direct way to ask an administrator to make the change? If the IMO is added to the photos, I presume they would then show up in "More of this ship" when viewing photo 172646.

Hi Bill,

Since only administrators have access to edit the photo information of other members, the simplest and most commonly seen way to have an IMO added is to simply comment on the photo with the IMO near the beginning so that it may be seen from the home page and noticed by an admin and amend the photo.

Of course, there isn't always an admin watching, so some comments do slip through the cracks. In that case, do not hesitate to private message an admin with the IMO and a link to the picture, and we will be glad to help.

Regards,
Kyle
