delivery of Innovation
« on: August 01, 2012, 01:38:17 PM »
HLJV Innovation had German flag hoisted yesterday in Gdansk Poland. The ship returned for short stay at the yard in Gdynia, where it was built. Final delivery documents were expected to be signed today. The ship will probably depart from Gdynia, Poland withing a few days.

A few pictures are available with this article (in Polish):

Tech specs in English are available on Hochtief Solutions website, I suppose.

Although (with 1500 t hoisting capacity) the crane of Innovation is by far smaller in terms of SWL comparing to largest (like Thialf and Saipem 7000) and even relatively modest offshore cranes not so extremely rarely offering 2000-5000 t SWL, the Innovation gear is said to be the "most powerful" onboard typical windfarm installation vessels and jack-up type vessels available worldwide today.

One HLJV with similar (1500 t) crane capacity is on order or under construction for 2013 delivery AFAIK. Would anyone be so kind as to name / point the operator / shipyard / source of information on this unit ?...

Also - is there any typical (purpose built) windfarm installation vessel that would heve crane more powerfull than Innovation ?

Not yet.   For example MPI Adventure has a 1000t crane, Brave Tern has a 800t crane.

I don't know if there will be needed a more powerful crane for WFI vessels - Ulstein has a concept of a ship that would install wind generator as one piece in a simple way:
