Some ports offer online information BOTH for arrivals and departures
(eg. http://portofgothenburg.com/Line-selection/Arrivals-and-Departures).

I found ARRIVALS (expected vessels) on the Website of Hafen Hamburg:
http://www.hafen-hamburg.de/erwartete-schiffe

Where can I find expected DEPARTURES ?...

Also, what information sources (mainly online) would you suggest as useful ones for a shipspotter in Hamburg ?

Are there any free wi-fi hotspots in the port of Hamburg and in / nearby ship viewing sites (vantage points) ?

If there are no good free wi-fi hotspots, then would you be so kind to suggest the best option for Internet for mobile telephone (probably some pre-paid SIM card) for ONE DAY or two days stay in Germany (Hamburg)...

- taking grosse hafenrundfahrt
- using public transport ferries on the river Elbe and landing piers Bubendy-Ufer

- WHAT ELSE would you suggest for a visiting shipspotter for spending ONE DAY in Hamburg most effectively ?...

Hi Polsteam,

For Containerships a good source is

https://coast-preview.hhla.de/coast/report/cache/Standard-Report-Segelliste.jsf
and
http://www.eurogate.de/eportal/state/show?_state=1omth3sohymp5&_unique=1lm1o1p09dwa&_transition=start

and a link to the Harbour ferry: http://www.hadag.de/hafenfaehren.php
a day ticket costs 5.60 Euro

For bulkers and all the other ships at Hamburg I found no sailing list. A good spotting point (for me) is the Rueschpark at Finkenwerder, you can go there by ferry from Finkenwerder. I don't know about wifi hotspots in this area, maybe you can use the roaming from your provider (for Europe it is with some providers no problem). I use the Marinetraffic android app with my smart phone.

kind regards
Joerg

Thank you.

I have already used Bubendey in the past.
Maybe it's time to try Finkenwerder  :)

Thank you. :)

Nothing new and interesting for shipspotters operating in Hamburg on a daily basis, but anyway...  here are some photos: http://www.portalmorski.pl/fotografia/hamburgshipspotting
