12 foot chemical carrier
« on: June 07, 2012, 05:43:11 PM »
Some pictures of my 12 foot long, 1/48 scale chemical parcel tanker. Works with water ballast system and full RC. Still working on it, doing detailing work and fabricating parts etc.

Hope to get ot on the water this summer!

24" beam, and weighs about 900lbs full ballasted. Lots of detail work to do. Thia is sorta like a model train layout, your're always adding stuff and its never really "done"

Some fitting master parts, bowthruster and some props etc.

Only after noticing the calculator on forecastle I realized how big she is!  ;D
Superb work!

What materials did you use while building her?
Also, could you post a pic of an aft underwater part, please?

Thanks Denis, Yeah its a good size.

It has a longish story, Started lif as a bulker, but recently deceided I wanted a chemical tanker. So lopped the deck off and re-did it. They are so fascinating to look at with all the plumbing and gear on deck etc.

This ship is freestyle and my own design. Im loosely using the "Stolt Sapphire" for ideas. But If I see a neat feature on other ships I incorporate it too.

I had to build it as light as possible, otherwise it would be a nightmare to deal with. hence the foam frames and light ply/fiberglass skin hull.

The screw and rudder. Uses a electric scooter motor geared to prop. I will make a real scale prop soon, but this one will do for now.
