Well, Mr. Scott, my dialog was in response to Tuomas, not you, who, if he felt slighted, I am sure would have requested a clarification of my "shill" remark. I've had worst hurled at me, and you did not come to my rescue.

By the way, I had earlier expressed my gratitude to Tuomas for correcting my definition of "fast-ice."

The worse place for a "peace maker" is in between two other people; you end up loosing. There is plenty of rudeness to go around on this forum, some of which I have received from "staff."

While "Oil Electric" is a well known railroad blog, with more than 600 articles written, and an average readership in excess of 300 souls per day, I reserve the right to write articles on virtually any subject I feel passionate about.

Coming from a seafaring family, with many friends who were "Coasties", and an affinity for Alaska, (if you bother to read my marine oriented articles,) this was a joy for me to research and write. I've been working this Healy-Renda subject virtually round the clock for several days.

Following in the footsteps of my Late Dad, who was a frequent contributor to Lekko, the World Ship Society, and Marine Digest, you can anticipate more from me on "Shipspotting."

New video just released by the Nome Nugget. Features footage taken by Alaska Marine Pilot Peter Garay from the bridge of the Renda as she plows through the ice field. Great viewing of a historic voyage:
