Enroute Tuzla-Varna the "Rona" went adrift on Jan 27, 2012, at 05:43 a.m. 6 miles west of Kilyos in pos. 41 17'3 50'2 N 028o E and ran aground. The Istanbul Vessel Traffic Service sent the Coast Guard rescue boats "Kıyı Emniyeti 9" and "Kıyem 1" as well as the tugs "Kurtarma 9" and "Kurtarma 10".

The ship was unloaded and had a crew of 9 Bulgarians.

So far, the Captain refused any assistance and evacuation of crew., according to Turkish maritime news portal www.denizhaber.com .
