I was just reading that on Cape Breton Post.
I guess she did not want to go to Turkey.

I was captain on a upbound ship and took some photos when we meet her Monday afternoon of Cape Breton. Calm evening that was but the wind came Northeast which is not good in that area.

Here's a photo taken by the Canadian Coast Guard of the vessel.

I've added an attached photo, but I'm not sure if it worked, I'll try to get a photo uploaded soon.

Canadian Coast Guard reports that the vessel has been breached. There is now a 50 foot hole in the stern and that the hull has cracked in the area of the second cargo hold.

Last report(1720hrs local) the tug that had the vessel under tow has been placed under arrest and is now at SYDPORT. Source-CBC News.

Don't think she wanted to leave Canada.  Can't say if I blame her!
My blog with narrative and more photos is located at:

I was just looking at a very good, close up picture of the "Canadian Miner" aground in Cape Breton.
It is a very close shot and what I noticed missing was the anchor chain "bridle" commonly used in long tows like this.
Does anyone know what connection was used? Was NOT using the customary anchor chain "bridle"  the reason she broke away from the tug, maybe?
