Tug "Michel Petersen"- information & pictures needed!
« on: September 16, 2011, 01:39:03 PM »
Hello-
does anybody know about the current location of the tug "Michel Petersen"? My last information is that she was sunk in 2003, later re-floated and brought to a shipyard for a yacht conversion.... I`ve even dug out that shipyard but they`re not answering to my emails.

I`m in the process of drawing a plan of that tug and desparatly need some high-resolution pictures for detailing it. I don`t know how to help myself otherwise, tried each and everything but have been unsuccesful so far. Maybe somebody in here is willing to help me on this?

Here`s a small summary and a picture of what I`m after:

Thank you for reading through this, any help would be great!
Best regards,
Wolfgang

Hi guys,

thank you all for sending in these links, but believe me: I`ve already found each and everything which is to be found in the internet! What I`m looking for is unposted material that somebody in here or elswhere might have in his personal archives or somebody, for example somebody who actually has worked on that tug or sonething like that..... Even better would be someone who`s willing to go out to that shipyard and take some pictures!

Here is an old shipyard link (though site seems non-functioning), but complete with MICHEL PETERSEN.  Astillero Tecnao Srl/Riopal SA.
http://www.riopal.com.ar/

She can be seen on GoogleMaps at http://tinyurl.com/6goytsv

The Astillero Tecnao site seems to concern only their yard at Tigre

She was owned by Klyne Tugs in Lowestoft UK who are still in business and may be able to help.

Best wishes,

Barry

Thank you davidships & Barry for your help, the google-link to the shipyard was very interesting! I couldn`t really understand where she exactly is moored (parked?!) because the shipyard`s location I knew so far didn`t look like the shipyard which they still show on their homepage!
I think I`ll write them again, I can`t believe that I can`t get somebody to go out there and do a quick 20 snapshots for me!? In case somebody from Urugay would email me I

Bob is right re Klyne being purchased by J P Knight. At JPK try Mark Nicholson in Invergordon : Tel:  +44 (0)1502 515250
Mob:+44 (0)7711 045359.
I have a photograph of her towing the Swedish destroyer OLAND to Spain for scrap in 1985/6. The tug is rather distant but I can email the pic if you are interested.
All best wishes,
Barry
