Inland tanker Vestland sunk off Britanny.
« on: September 07, 2011, 08:00:40 AM »
Last monday, towed by the tug Courbet with one other inland tanker, the Altlantic Trader, the Vestland (http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1340498) broke itself in two parts in the bad weather at approximately 80 nautical miles in the South of the point of Penmarc'h.
Originally the convoy was en route from Rotterdam to Lagos (Nigeria).
The rescue tug Abeille Bourbon left Brest and took the back part in trailer but this one sank before yesterday by 2000 meters down.
The plane of the Customs, sent to watch the zone, noticed that Vestland was not a simple dragged barge, but a barge on the open sea with a busy bridge with au crew of 3 men
At the present time, Courbet turned back and is in the entrance of Channel heading for Rotterdam.
It seems that Atlantic Trader devoid of AIS made road towards its final destination (Lagos) with also a crew of 3 persons.
