Latest from Lloyd's List Casualty page:

CP VALOUR (Bermuda Flag)
Friday December 23 2005

Ponta Delgada, Dec 21 -- c.c. CP VALOUR is still aground. Tug FOTIY KRYLOV assisted by local tug ILHA DE SAO LUIS on scene. Two local dredgers DRAGA AREIA and ATLANTIAREIA contracted to remove the sands around the casualty. The combustibles remaining on board the vessel, FO and MDO, being now pumped out to tanker MAGADIR. General cargo BBC CANADA is expected this evening at Horta to collect/transport about 600 general cargo containers from the vessel to shore. Some considered dangerous cargo which is stuffed inside three 40-foot containers is being collected by helicopter due to difficult access to them on board the vessel which has no proper lifting gear. It is reported that about 150 tonnes of fuel spilled from the vessel has already been reached/collected at the beach of Praia da Faja, located nearby the casualty. Oil containment booms have been placed around the casualty to avoid the pollution extension to another places of the Island. -- Lloyd's Agents. (See issue of Dec 22.)

Horta, 27.12.05
Vessel position is unchanged - crew left the ship - containers start falling from the vessel - some fuel still leaking - BBC Canada left without being able to help - heli Kamov 32 arriving for some freight salvage - tug Fotiy Krylov pulling 24 h a day...
Many pictures can be found on the infopage of the University of the Azores, Departement of Oceanography and Fisheries:

What's the latest about this ship? Is she still in one piece or has she started to break up? A shame for the ship, but it could have been worse for the wildlife.

Hello.

There are no fresh news about her here in Portugal. The media love headlines, but soon they get tired...

About a month ago, I send a mail to the portuguese Navy and I didn't get much. However, a portuguse newspaper published a small article about her, last July 9th.

There, it says that the south african and netherlanders [sorry the eventually wrong word... :-P] are still unsure about her destiny: only in August they'll be sure if she'll be dismantle in loco or towed to Lisbon, where she will also be dismantle... The probabilities, they say, are about 50/50 %. They also say that, most of all, the Eco-Sistem comes first than the ship... Anyway, this is the end-of-line to her...

For those who understand portuguese, here's the link.

http://jornal.publico.clix.pt/default.asp?a=2006&m=07&d=09&uid=&sid=9587

For now, this is all I can tell you. ;-)

Best regards to all! :-D
