Vale Brazil departed PDM enroute to China on her first revenue run. I just released a full account on my Blog, which I invite you to read. http://www.oil-electric.com/2011/05/vale-brazil-biggest-ship-in-world.html

I wonder what happens to VALE BRASIL in her way to China. After several days in front of Durban, now is proceeding to Cape Town. Technical problems? anybody knows?

Hi,

as I heard yesterday, she is now on the way to Taranto in Italy as there are some problems in Dalian...

I don't think the Cinese Government hayet granted permission for these ships to call at Qingdao fully loaded. Apparently that is the only port that can handle the 400,000 tonners at capacity, but for now they can only berth partially loaded.

Vale has drawn up intermediate plans that will see its fleet of giant bulk carriers enter the Chinese port of Qingdao partially loaded. Perhaps the Tranato call is to lighten??

Fred,

Qingdao is not looking like a possible destination at the moment due to reasons which cannot be revealed. Industry insiders are suggesting that a more likely alternative could now be Europoort, but probably pushing the limits of draught.

Going by what I have been reading in this thread (and I wouldn't rely on it anything near 100 percent), this story is shaping-up for being about the cock-up of the decade (or longer)!

After her first complicated trip to Taranto via South Africa,Vale Brasil is back in Ponta da Madeira terminal in Brasil.Today started a second trip fully loaded to... guess: I think Fred Vloo must wait. She is not going to Europort nor to China, her destination is Sohar in Oman, eta the 8th September.Isn't surprising?
