M/V Yong Sheng (ex Greta-C)
« on: April 06, 2011, 12:22:29 PM »
I am looking for photos of the vessel 'Yong Sheng', the 160m ex-Carisbrooke Shipping vessel 'Greta-C'.
Does anyone have photos of her under this new name, or info as to where she is now?
I Have attached an old picture (not mine) of her with her old name and Carisbrooke colors.

Thanks!

Saw her in the Singapore Straits on 23/6/09, at great distance - all that had changed from her Carisbrooke days was the blue square containing CS had been removed from the funnel - still grey hull and yellow funnel, and yellow cranes - I did get a picture but very distant, and in fading light.

Thanks for that Krispen.
I am suprised to see her carrying bulk cargo and not containers in that picture, as from what I understand she was bought by COSCOL to be used as a container ship in the far east.

Hi Pat,

Thanks for your positive views on the 'blog', it is very much appreciated.

As the Greta-C, she was a regular visitor into Newport bringing in coal.

Regards, Brian.

Brian, I was a regular caller to Newport myself, having worked on both her and her sistership Innogy sprite (now Mark C)!!

We brought the coal from Vysotsk, Russia and Muuga in Estonia.

I am now 2nd mate on the Irish national research v/l 'Celtic Explorer',we have not made it to Newport yet, the closest was 3 weeks drydock in Milford Haven last September.

Brgrds,

Pat

Hi Pat,

I'm the one pressing the buttons to let you in and out of Newport, I do remember the Innogy Sprite, trouble is, the coal trade has disappeared...

I see you are now on the ship that gives me grief, in as much that we have a 'Celtic Explorer' that brings timber from Scandinavia...

Regards, Brian.

PS Yong Sheng now in Asaluyeh, Iran.
