I thought it might be Coast Guard at first but didn't see any identifications for it, maybe a survey vessel of some kind? It looks like there is some sort of logo on the smoke stacks.

The ship in question is a cable laying and repair vessel that looks like one of the Tyco ships, maybe Tyco Resolution, but I am unable to positively identify it. Cable laying and repair vessels travel Chesapeake Bay on a regular basis on their way to and from the AT&T facility in Baltimore.

That's probably it then, thanks a bunch. That image was taken with the same model of camera that I use as well, funnily enough.
