IMO: 9575395
« on: May 31, 2010, 05:10:56 PM »
Does anybody out there know the correct name of the vessel that goes with the IMO: 9575395 ???.   I ask because I saw this vessel in the NE Lane of the English Channel at around 1640hrs local on 14.5.10 and she was showing on AIS Live as SEAAXE 4 which is think is only the name of the class of vessel and not the actual name of the vessel.  It is still showing as this on AIS Live this afternoon. Any help greatly appreciated. Rgds  jw..

Hi Jesper, Many thanks for reply but I do not think that's the real name as I found that trawling the net. What you have told me is I think is just the type of vessel and not the name.  The other vessel in this class I know of is IMO: 9554640 and her name is OBERON, have a look.  Anyway thanks for reply, perhaps someone else has an idea !! Regards, jw..

Try Equasis and you will find the name.

With respect sir if you look for this on Equasis what you see is the class of the vessel NOT the proper name !!!!

Just a thought, perhaps this vessel is so far unnamed, hence the class and yard designation showing up on Equasis and AISLive. This could especially be true if she is still the property of the shipyard and not yet handed over to owners.

I think that is the likliest explanation.

Phil

Hi,

According to Equasis the name is Sea Axe 5009 IV and it is a (new) crewboat.

Hi Phil, Many thanks for your thoughts on this matter.  I must admit I hadn't thought of the possibility that you mention. As far as I can see from AIS Live as I write, this IMO: 9575395 is still in dock in Dordrecht and showing name SEAAXE 4.  It complicates the situation a bit when Equasis is showing a name which is in fact the class of the ship and NOT the true name.  If you happen to come across the real name when and if given please keep me in mind. Regards, John..

Data retrieved from ISR (formerly LRF) show this vessel as Sea Axe 5009 IV. The hull was built in Vietnam, launched on 26-11-09 and towed to the Netherlands for completion..The crewboat will be completed by Damen Gorinchem, near Dordrecht, the Netherlands.

Brgds,
Robert.

That's correct, but in the end she will get her real name, which will not be Sea Axe.
Cheers Fred

Indeed Fred. Sea Axe refers to the shape of the hull. I found 3 completed vessels: Umbra (IMO  9554652), Oberon (9554640) and Independencia (9572678). This is the 4th. unit and right now the Sea Axe VII (IMO 9572680) is on order in Vietnam. The units 5 and 6 are apparently not firmly in the Vietnamese/Damen order books yet. Ciao, Rob.

After my original request concerning this I think we are edging forward and may soon have the correct name for this vessel. Thanks all for help so far. As Shaw Taylor used to say "keep 'em peeled". regards, JW.

One of my fellow spotters in Rozenburg has pictured the vessel on trials in the Europoort area, but still without it's final name. I've asked him to upload the pictures onto the site. (to be cont'd....no doubt).

Rgds,
Rob.

Sir, Many thanks for info, I did notice the same on AIS LIVE going up and down on the Rotterdam screen, it's now berthed up some little inlet. As the one who started this thread I am still very interested in the final given name whenever that happens. Ask your spotter friends to keep you informed. Regards, JW
