Serco Denholm Ltd tugs BUSTLER & POWERFUL
« on: May 15, 2010, 05:51:10 PM »
Hi

Does anyone know why the two Portsmouth based Serco Denholm Ltd tugs BUSTLER & POWERFUL have had their "SD" prefix painted out, are they to be sold now that the new tugs are coming on stream?

It'll either be what you suggested, or it could be this:

Serco bought out Denholm's share of Serco-Denholm late last year - and the SD logos on the funnels have progressively been changed to Serco logos.

I'm wondering if the boats are being renamed to take account that it is just Serco, rather than SD. This would be quite costly though.

Bob,
Here's another mystery; look up Powerful on Equasis, either under the name or IMO number and Equasis denies all knowledge!
Also, a look at the Serco fleet list, again on Equasis and Powerful is not there.
AIS shows Powerful sitting in Portsmouth harbour this morning.
Am I missing something?

Thanks Luke, I didn't know that Denholm had been bought out. I will have to keep a look out for the new funnel logos.

Cheers

Thanks Kevin, that is strange, she used to be on Equasis.
She is definately still at Portsmouth and looked like she was ready for use when I saw her on the 6th.

Intrestingly, the latest "British Warships& Auxiliaries 2010/2011" says they are expected to be decommissioned in 2010 and replaced by the ATD 2909 class SD RELIABLE & SD BOUNTIFUL that are both now in Portsmouth, perhaps thats why they have lost their prefix.

Another mystery, if Serco have bought out Denholm, why do the new tugs have the SD prefix?

A bit of a tangent to the thread but check out the amount of SD vessels that have been sold or are for sale

http://www.damentrading.nl/damen/

Check tugs, support, research, pilot boats & crew boats
