What is happening?
« on: May 03, 2010, 08:50:38 AM »
Hi,

Shipspotting was off-line this weekend. I expected to see the new site on air by now.The original site is back now, but I cannot open pictures or see thumbnails.
Perhaps this happening only to me, because I see people uploading pictures and no announcement about the issue. Can somebody explain what the status is?

thanks in advance
best regards Stan

Hi Stan,

Due to some problems in performance, as we tested the website with its huge traffic, we had to close it down again, so we can fix the problems,

Now for the photos, you can keep uploading them, it's just a matter of few hours (2~3) they will be available again, nothing is lost, I can guarantee this. just the time the website gets back to its normal state.

We do apologize for any inconvenience, and we are currently, actively working on this issue to get you the new version in the best possible way.

So keep uploading and your photos will be available very soon.

Regards, Taha

I cant see a bloody picture of anything, but what the hell, the tech-people will surely work it out. But doesnt this happen every time there is a major upgrade at shipspotting?

Thanks Taha and Ken for explaining.
We just have to be patient I guess.
Looking forward to the new (and improved?) site.

I am wondering if you may have had a recent security update to you browser that is blocking images? I am using IE8 and I can see the images.

Hi Glenn

I have tried my notebook wich operates with Windows 7.

All thumbnails show and all photos,in all sizes show.

My desktop which is windows XP, fully updated, shows only the odd Thumbnail, but no actual photos.

Hope this helps.

Hi guys,
These problems always happen when moving huge databases to new servers so it's nothing to do with your browsers/operating systems etc.
Looking forward to seeing the new site up and running.
