MV Akademik Shokalskiy
« on: January 13, 2010, 09:00:50 PM »
Hello all together,

I planning to do a trip on the MV Akademik Shokalskiy to Northern Greenland in August 2010. Does anybody can tell me something about this ship?

- Is this ship up to date with all the technical stuff?
- How is the russian crew handling the ship?
- When was her last overhaul in a yard?
- How is the ship handling waves?

Any experiences from passenger are welcome.

I guess you would contact the owner of the ship to get that info! I would anyway!

Certainly I read all about the ship on the website of the owner. But the sun is always shining there. If you now what I mean! :-o  I hoped to get some "insider" or travellers reviews about the ship.

This ship is presently laid up in Malaga and has been since september 09. She is going no where fpr now. She looks to be well looked after. See photo.

Michael.

Does anybody have some news about her?
When does she leave Malaga, Spain for the Arctic?

Th MV Akademik Shokalskiy has just arrived in Langyearbyen on Svalbard, Norway for the first time this year. See the picture HERE or the ports webcam HERE.

Is there anybody on Svalbard who can upload a better shot?
