Saga Rose has just arrived at the Eastern Anchorage Gibraltar For orders. Any ideas what her fate is?

A friend who works as a ship broker told me yesterday that she may be on her way to a Mediterranean port for use as a hotel ship. That is still unconfirmed, but let's hope the best. At the beginning of 2009, word was that Marseille had expressed their interest in buying her - after all, she was built close by. So what better port for her? Anything but the scrappers!

Saga Rose has been laid up in Gibraltar since December. Today she sailed from Gibraltar bound for Tenerife ETA 7/4. Has she finally been sold?

Saga Rose began sailing for Norwegian American Line in 1965 as Sagafjord and, despite being a bit long in the tooth, she is beloved for her sleek appearance and comfortable interiors. Well-built and beautifully maintained, she is a classic ship with many of the attributes of a true ocean liner

Hi,

She is currently (10/04/2010) sailing south with a destination of Walvis Bay. Maybe one of the rumours( accommodation/hotel ship for the football World Cup) is true after all?
