I now know that the servers are in St Louis.. I had calculated the longitude before by looking at upload times for new photos and comparing them with world clock information.  Now it seems I know the latitude

I am most surprised and doubtful about statistics that show that the site has more viewers in Iran than in any of Germany, Italy or UK.  See this table where the % figure appears to show the percentage of total site users in the countries listed
UNITED STATES   16.5%   
IRAN, ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF   15.0%   
GERMANY   7.7%   
ITALY   6.0%   
UNITED KINGDOM   5.4%

Yes I did notice the statistics on the world wide audience and thought it was flawed - unless that is there is a big audience in Iran. However the likes of http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/http://www.shipspotting.com are also reporting that statistic.

Strange the things you can find on the Net  :-)
