Sundstraum and Kapitan Lus collides at Øresundbridge today. Sundstraum carried methanol, and Kapitan Lus seems to have carried uranium. Sundstraum went aground, and Kapitan Lus has a list. More to follow.

Thanx for correcting the name

I can add that danish news are reporting that there is no radiation risk from the Captain Lim.

You've got to wonder how two relatively small ships steaming relatively slow can collide in this beautiful weather though! A bit embarrassing, if you ask me!

You are indeed correct Uwe... It is the Lus, not Lim.

Video of the Kaptain Lus listing to port with her port walkway clearly below the waterline:

The Danish Maritime Authority has now ruled out the possibility of alcohol being the cause of the accident. They say that everything is pointing towards a defect in the Sundstraum's steering gear leaving her unable to manouver.
The Lus failed to carry out any effective evasive action after giving off five short blasts but instead spend the time trying to get the Sundstraum on the radio. So it's going to be a bit interesting to see how they are going to split the blame on this one... Because both ships failed to comply with the colregs, one way or the other!
