MONTE ACONCAGUA - The maiden voyage

Container ship MONTE ACONCAGUA ( 5560 TEU ) left today March 18, 2009 Constantza harbour, Romania for her maiden voyage.
Destination : Istanbul

Thanks, Adi, for the two top photos of this new ship.
One question: do you know the reason/-s for the special
bridge/wheelhouse design. It looks like the wheelhouse
has been pushed several metres to the starboard?

Glad you like my photos. In my opinion the bridge has not been pushed to the starboard, it's just an illusion.

Hi there,

Just heard she will be in Hong Kong tomorrow, May 29th parked at the Ocean Terminal Cruise terminal for a naming ceremony. Will be moved to the container terminal later for loading.

The centre console is midships, however the bridge structure is larger on the starboard side than Port, not an optical illusion.

An offset bridge is not so unusual these days, some 'are offset' so they can see past a row of deck cranes or they will load the containers so they have at least some view ahead.
