Plight of seafarers today
« on: October 04, 2008, 03:58:44 PM »
Being a seafarer myself , I often ponder over the way we are treated at the various ports of the world today. NOBODY cares about the welfare of the seafarer who has spent many days at sea ( in all kinds of weather ) and away from family and friends. Of course there are the Missions and other groups which try to do their best for the betterment of the seafarer..and they are doign A GREAT JOB !! However...most ports dont have telephone facilities convenient for the crew of ships...crew are treated like CRIMINALS in many ports...crew cannot proceed beyond gates which are locked and manned.. :-( ...shore leave, which is hard to come by these days , is made more of an ordeal ....thanks to people who dont care...
