MOL Springbok
« on: September 12, 2008, 11:18:35 AM »
In mid-July I photographed MOL Springbok, IMO 9102502 at Terneuzen.
Today, I tried to run the name through the IMO wash/manager process and Lloyds don't know anything about it. Equasis still shows it under this name so I am a bit puzzled.
Does anybody have any ideas; has this ship changed names again?

Hi Kevin

I've experienced this type of thing also - not for the MOL Springbok I would add  :-)
Not sure why the IMO Manager does this but I've found that you have to keep trying and it eventually accepts that the ship exists. I often try inputting the name again - and also trying the name all in capitals.

Hello Kelvin

Both vessel tracker and her registration society GL show her as having been renamed Vulkan (presumably within the last few days)

Similarly I photographed Hanjin Venezia last Saturday, Equasis still shows her as such but GL now has her as MSC Venezia.    So beware new name changes, it often takes KR some time and Equasis some time + a few more days !!!!

Vulkan was previous name before she was chartered to MOL. Must now have reverted to this.

Thanks Allan & Arthur.
Reviewing my comments, posted with the phot:
Previous names;
Vulkan 08-2005; Marfret Caraibes 06-2005
MF Caraibes 02-2005; Marfret Caraibes 03-2004
CMA CGM Karukera 11-2002; Vulkan 08-2001
CMA CGM Karukera 02-2001; Vulkan 09-2005
Cap York 05-2000
As the owner is Vulkan Schiffahrts I expect it will be appearing as Vulkan again in the near future!
I should have guessed!
Cheers
Kelvin

Thanks Klaus.
The same problem applied to Nordana Teresa. I photographed this one at Terneuzen 4th September:
http://www.shipspotting.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=718668
At that time, Lloyds and Equasis listed her under her previous name Love Music.
Today, Lloyds doesn't recognise the name and Equasis have updated (8th Sept) their records and spelled the name wrong! (Nordana Theresa)
Cheers
kelvin
