« on: September 03, 2008, 09:59:10 AM »
Exit Prinsesse Ragnhild.
She has been sold to the American company celebration cruise holdings, and is to be delivered before the 1 of october. She is currently berted in my hometown of Sandefjord Norway, and guess who will be shooting her as she leaves....

Bye bye, wonderful ferry.

Any idea what will happen to her? Since she has been brought by celebration cruise holdings, will she be converted to a cruise ship?

Hi,

I wonder if they will convert her into a floating casino or not. There have been a lot of casino ships that have left active service recently but on the other hand, the Ragnhild is a bit big for a day trip casino boat.

I hear she will go to sail from Fort Lauderdale to the Bahamas. so my guess is she may replace the aging ms Discovery sun of Discovery Cruises, which is owned by Mr. Raphael Ordonez, the owner of Catering outfit APOLLO SHIPCHANDLERS. We shall see.

As Prinsesse Ragnhild is being bought by an American company, I think she will spend her time in the Caribbean/Bermuda. Hopefully she will be well looked after.

Hi,

most of these cruise ships are well looked after (or at least it looks so) so I presume she can serve there for quite a while.

The Ship you speak of Prinsesse Ragnhiild has indeed been sold to U.S. based Celebration Cruise Holdings affiliated with Imperial Majesty Cruise Lines which runs 2 day overnight cruises from Ft.Lauderdale,Florida to Nassu,Bahamas. Their is currently a ship the Regal Empress on that service right now..and No one seems to know what Imperial Majesty has planned for either ship. Im assuming the Raghnild will need alot of upgrading and her car decks will be of no use to Imperial Majesty thats for sure!

Its no less than: "Bahamas Celebration". She will get bunker tomorrow, and will head out soon. Expect pictures.

Hi,

I guess they have to wait a bit to get the sufficient workers or the materials that are required to convert her into a cruise ship. I guess (and hope) there won't be that much structural changes, just a bit more potholes where the cardecks used to be.
I'm quite curious to see the results really.

Maybe they should speed things up a little bit. Isn't Regal Empress kind of her running mate on the cruises Bahamas Celebration will make, too?
It is expected that Regal Empress will be retired in February 2009...

recent pictures show bahamas celebration in the Azores. Is an external link allowed here? http://www.vesseltracker.com/de/ShipPhotos/204939-Bahamas-Celebration-7904891.html

And still no sign of any refurbishment going on. Does anybody have any news?

Kai

Hello all together,

I thought she is still in Freeport awaiting or is under refit. That's the latest image, I think: HERE.

I also read on the owners homepage that she is going to be in service in february 2009. For whatever reasons there nothing to find about this on the website of Imperial Majesty Cruise Line.

I hope someone get us some new informations about the old Prinsesse, because I'd like to sail with her again sometimes. (If possible, this year!  :-( )

Stefan
