Plan "A", weather permitting, is she leaves the berth at 11:00 am and reaches the piers an hour later at 12:00 am. Plan "B" is add an hour to the figures just given.

Hi Kevin,
Could plan "C" be to add an hour onto plan "B"? ;-)

Hi Kevin

As per usual your information is right on the button  :-)

A little embarrassing for the Svitzer Tugs turning up way before they were allegedly ordered - they were lying off the Rig at 08.30 and are still there.

Pilots are now on both Tugs so it looks a goer for 11.00. Lets hope the rain keeps off!

Hi All

Well the 'Big Tow' commenced on time, near enough to 11.00 today and the Northern Producer was guided out of the Port of Tyne under the guidance of the Tyne Pilots - if I'm not mistaken the Number 1 Pilot on the Magnus is one of our members  :-)

Weather couldn't have been more perfect for photography, dry and bright with intermittent cloud cover to keep out the low Winters sunlight.

Interesting to see that the VOS Commander - IMO 7404188 has joined with the Northern Producer, Magnus and Esvagt Connector as they head North towards the on Southwest and West Don Fields.

Of course with the Rig having been in the Tyne for over a year now it makes you wonder what next for the McNulty Yard?

Regards

Hi Steve ,
Yes I agree with what you say  it was a good ady for the departure. As the convoy was approaching South Shields ferry landing  the Pride of the Tyne got on the VHF to the Collingwood and asked if a man could go onboard to take some photos, Collingwood asked if the man was at the ferry landing , which he was and then steamed across to the landing to pick him up!! lucky beggar he must have had a great day out...

As for Mcnultys , there was a lot of workers , or ex workers on the South side of the river waving to many people on the rig as she sailed past the Groyne. I beleve they have got a good  share of the new carrier contract and they have a few employees working in Barrow at the moment :-

http://www.shieldsgazette.com/news/Yard-celebrates-big-offshore-order.4488436.jp

They also have other work , but this is mainly fabrication work in the yard , but I think we will see some load outs of a kind , dont know how big or small the items will be.

regards

Hi Brian

Yes I heard that - I got the impression that the guy was one of the crew on the Ferry - I'm sure the skipper of the Spirit of the Tyne said it was 'one of the lads'?

I see the Caer Urfa also followed the procession out - Mike - Tynesiders yacht

Hi Daryl

Great news - of course this FPSO was in at McNulty's six years ago undergoing a conversion - see http://www.mcnultyoffshore.com/en/projects/fpso_fpu_mpu/glas_dowr/
