Hi Jon

Best take a look at th weather before you travel up to Tyneside - we are covered in fog at the moment.

To check if and when the fog lifts, take a look at these web cams - the bottom 2 should give a view of HMS Ark Royal, but at the moment all you can see is the fog!

Thanks Steve,

I have only just logged in and found your reply.

The fog was really bad down here with visability hovering down to 50-75 feet on Tees Road between Graythorpe Yard and Haverton Hill.

When I got back to Hartlepool from Middlesbrough, the fog was beginning to burn off with some good clear breaks. Had a look at the BBC Tyne camera and was a big foogy but visability good. So drove upto South Shields, got there about 1330 and was greeted with glorious sunny spells and clear sky. Got some very nice pictures and as we were leaving the fog was starting to roll back in.

It looks like the tugs are starting to head down the river for the sailing of the Ark Royal, you can view the webcams as in Ellwoods comments

Hi Brian

Shame she is sailing on the high tide - far too dark for any sensible photography  :-x

Hi Steve , yes it is starting to look dark on the cameras. You were right not even one ping all weekend. That big bulker with the 60000 tons of coal is due in on Friday at 3 oclock in the morning, it will be low tide?! Unless that is what time it is expected to anchor

Hi Brian

Yes that is a strange one - as you say the low tide peaks at around 02.00 on the 14th. Still the 03.00 time is an estimate at this stage - worth keeping an eye on this one  :-o
