Why is the Princess of Norway still in Ijmuiden?
« on: June 30, 2007, 11:48:44 AM »
Hi ,
Just been looking on the port of Tyne website to see when the Princess of Norway arrived.
Last time she was in sh arrived over 6hours late, and departed over 4 hours late.
Both the king of Scandanavia and the Princess of Norway are in Ijmuiden.

Does any one know why??

Thanks Brian

I heard the bowdoors were making a little bit of water. (but i'm not sure!) She came yesterday 10 hours to late. I think she had sail slow! Both ships are here in the harbour now! Pics come soon  :-P

If I remember correctly, I think the Princess of Norway had bow door problems quite often when she was Spirit of Tasmania.

When she was purchased for the Bass Strait route, she did have to have some modifications to the bow in order to make her better commpatible with the shore landing facilies in Melbourne and Devonport.  I think the Ramp was too short, something like that and the doors were modified to open further apart.

Some one did tell me that they did have a tendacy of leaking but the internal door had been also modified to create a better seal.

I am not sure but did she have bow doors as Peter Pan or did she have the lift up nose?

Hi Kevin

Well with the way the weather is, it doesn't make much of a difference - far too wet and dark for photography  :-(

Hi Cawkey

Yes, that's something you don't see very day

Of course its very dodgy falling into the Tyne at that point, so many edies and currents created by the river flowing past the bridges!!

Hi gents,

Seems like a tabloid over here. Talking about royalty like this.
Here's a pic i took today of both highnesses.

As to the why the Princess is still here, i heard a unverified whisper a few weeks ago about some engine trouble.
