HMS WHIMBREL to return to the UK
« on: May 27, 2007, 03:18:55 PM »
The 1200 ton Clyde built sloop HMS WHIMBREL is to return to the UK according to a British national newspaper.
She was built in 1943 and saw service in the Battle of the Atlantic, D-Day landings and Pacific. Sold to Egypt after the war, she became the TARIK and as such is still laid up there.
She is due to be returned, restored and displayed in Liverpool by the summer of 2008.

See photo of TARIK posted by Bunts.

I am so very happy to hear that HMS Whimbrel is going to be preserved!  Now all that needs to happen is HMS Zenith coming with her!  Le pass
