A ship ran aground tonight outside fedje in hordaland norway.
All crew has been airlifted off, here is a link to the story, only in norwegian, unfortunatly. It has no cargo onboard. It blows gale, and the waveheight is about seven meters. Server is buildt in 1985, and is a handysize bulker. There are offcourse possibilities for oil pollution.
It has 650 tons of bunkeroil.
Latest reports;- has broken in half.
And.. The sad news is that the oil has reached the coast...
Will update

Here is a shot:

Reports are that the pilot just departed the "server" before she ran aground. She had about 600 tons of bunker, and now it has reached the shore. Sad... The weather is the same, about seven meters of sea and hard wind.

Yeah, i noticed to. In my first post you can see they credited "shipspotting.com" with the shot. Strange that the actual shooter was not credited. I dont know. And i posted a link to the actual shot in one of my post, dont know if i might? Best regards ghazten sandefjord Norway

But i figured i could use it in our "community"...

Hi Robert,

Most news media in Norway usewd your picture, and Norway's leading newspapers (Aftenposten) credited you as photgrapher (ARTICLE).

Most others referred to shipspotting.com like Norway's leading tabliod VG (ARTICLE).

The pitcure was used a few times on state television (NRK) without reference and I have also seen it in some web newspapers without reference. In summary, however, I believe your picture has given shipspotting.com a lot of attention.

--------

The casualty broke in half in heavy sees. The aft part with the superstructure is stuck on the small island where the vessel grounded, while the forward part (whicgh inclludes all five cargo holds) has been towed to an supply vessel base close to Bergen, Norway.

Pictures of the casualty HERE.

Best regards
Mats

Some important headlines, 15:33 LT in Norway:

-alcohol test of crew is negative
-the Captain has said in police interview that the engine stopped
-about 290 metric tons of bunker oil has leaked out of the aft part of the ship, which has sunk (the forward part has been towed into a safe haven)

But does anyone know how much oil was in the aft part and how much oil was stored in the forward bunker tanks? I have not seen any notes on this in any newspaper...
If we are lucky, a great portion of the bunker oil was stored forward, then maybe the spill will not be too big...

Christian!
