Today at the Port of Halifax Nova Scotia the Heavy lift vessel BLUE MARLIN will commence to position and lift the oil rigs  ROWAN GORILLA VI  and  GALAXY II in one move to transit the North Atlantic Ocean with them to Europe.  Many rigs have been lifted from here in the past but never two at one time. More details to follow.

Best Regards

Interesting news, Jack.

I regularly follow Halifax harbour at halifaxwebcam . You can see both Jack ups and the Blue Marlin. The Heavylift ship is near George's Island.

Are you going to try and post some pictures?

Thanks for the commentary jackdusty, it was interesting to watch on the webcam. I hope to be a bit closer for the unloading at Invergordon next month. :-)

Anyone have a ETA for the Blue Marlin in Invergordon, would love to see her come in with this load.

Hello Men, I sure hope some of you folks can get some realy good pics of her when she comes in to port also!! I am a huge fan of Dockwise and in particular the Blue Marlin and Black Marlin. Here is a link to ssome decent pics of the load-out and sail-out of the rigs on Blue Marlin.http://www.chesterahoy.com/SHIPS/biglift.htm

Latest estimate, Blue Marlin will arrive and go to anchor in the Inner Moray Firth on 21st of February. She will move to a nearby location for unloading when the weather is suitable, but will be 2 or 3 miles offshore, so not so good for photography.

Blue Marlin anchored about midnight on the 20/21 February. I have posted pics taken later on the 21st, in the Heavy Lift and Funnels  sections. It was too dark when the agent was out, but there are other ways!
