Hi,

I've got a question on the replacement of the Superfast X
Do they use the upper car decks of the Blue Star 1?
I saw her in Zeebrugge once, not much time after she had arrived and the ramp was not lowered for acces onto the upper cardeck

Regards
Cedric

I had the chance to test SNCM standards on Pascal Paoli last autumn and I was very well impressed (except for the fact that is unacceptable to make public announcements only in French, apart for the one after departure, also in Corsican speech); it's easy to understand why they've closed the casino, less why they've closed the sauna/jacuzzi. This could have been an interesting service; for the same reason I couldn't understand why CMN cut off the swimming pool from the Girolata; the ferry had a reasonable speed for being useful only on day crossings to Marseille, where it would have been an iteresting service, but even if you don't need it, I can understand to build a ferry without swimming pool, not to remove it from a ferry which has it!

Anyway....no matter! So the Jean Nicoli does not come to Nice?

Hi,
yes, but you would make some reclamations for the jacuzzi...
I think that she won't go to Nice for a simply reason: 205m length, it's too long to enter in the bassin.
So Marseille will be a better place.
Regards.

Thanks for the news ! :-) It appears she's going to her home port Ajaccio (which is my home port as well, by the way ! :-D ), too bad I'm living on the main land, I will only be in Corsica in late April/early May. I hope she will be laid up there (as there are still no schedules for her, I guess she will be laid up for a few weeks), even if I suppose she only goes to Corsica for her official christenning before sailing to Marseille and being laid up there.

In the ferry section, you can see pictures of here which were taken on March 23rd. And she is spotted in... SOUTHAMPTON !!!!! :-o  :-o What the hell is she doing in Southammpton ???
I suppose Veolia/SNCM use her as a Ro/Ro or a vehicle carrier until her definitive Corsican schedule is announced. I guess it's more profitable to operate her that way than to simply lay her up in Marseille...

She was indeed in Southampton on the 23rd March. The ship's agent was listed as Wallenius Wilhelmsen, which suggests that she may be on a short charter to the scandinavian line.

Hi,

from my verry limited knowledge of Swedish:

- "Departure from Le Havre to Marseille with cars"

- "Special sailing (or something like that) from Marseille to Le Havre and back with cars"
