Boudicca on the beach
« on: May 18, 2021, 01:50:14 PM »
I understand that the former Fred. Olsen Cruise Line ship Boudicca has recently been pulled up onto the beach at Aliaga for scrapping.

If Boduicca gets scrapped, then Black Watch and Albatros are next.

Well Black Watch yes but Albatros was moved over to a legitimate hotel operation, so I think that for a while she will remain in that role.

Sad to hear that. We lengthend all three ships in the early eighties in Bremerhaven with assistence of Lloydwerft as we hadn't the dock falcilities for this operation. It was at the beginning of my work as a naval architect atr Seebeckwerft. Those were the days...

From Fred Olsen Facebook page:

"Many of our guests will recognise this beautiful figurehead, which originally featured on our 1947 vessel, Baldrian, from on board Boudicca. She has certainly cruised around the world a few times now!
The figurehead of a young lady with a skirt made of fishing nets will now take pride of place on Borealis, on deck 9 overlooking the aft of deck 8.
Welcome home...

A wise fool speaks, because he has something to say.
A fool speaks, because he has to say something.
A wise fool is silent, because there is nothing to say.

I understand that Boudicca will likely soon be followed onto the scrapyard beaches by her former fleet mate, Albatros.

What about Black Watch, is she to join them too?
